As stated in our assessment principles, assessment is a necessary component of teaching. Assessment results guide our instruction by either validating our current instruction by unveiling growth, or invalidating by revealing gaps in understanding. Assessment results can also be used to gain vital information about a student’s beliefs and feelings towards reading (their strengths, weaknesses, and interests), and their parents or teacher’s views on their current academic abilities and routines.
